[...] Another cause of long-term unemployment is unionization.彼も指摘するように、「労働者保護」が強く労働組合の組織率の高い国（あるいは州）ほど長期失業率が高いのは、経済学で確立した定型的事実だ。厚労省の進めている「労働再規制」が、彼らの主観的な温情主義とは逆に、失業という格差を拡大することは確実である。日本の民主党の議員諸兄には、サマーズのこのエッセイを一読することを強くおすすめする。
